Blach's Early Elections

For the first year of Blach's exsistance, 1958-1959, the election was held half way through the year, of Febuary 20, 1959. This was done because since the school was brand new, there was no time to have an election right away when school started. The students who won the election would serve only half term on the student body instead of a full year. The campaign speeches were given over the P.A., instead of during an assembly like we do now. Probably because they didn't have any multi purpose room then. Students who wanted to vote had to have been registered to vote a week before with their student council representative. Students weren't actually required to vote though.

The following year the procedure went the same as the year before.

Here is an actual ballot from the 1961 election:

Taken from Blach scrapbook.

There were three offices that students were able to run for that don't exsist any more. They are: Historian,Reporter, and Student Store Manager.
