Planning for high school
Directions

Students completing Algbera Essentials successfully will enter high school mathematics
in a Geometry I.

Some students will demonstrate the organizational skills, motivational and proactive spirit, and mathematical
understanding to move into the Honors Geometry program in their first year of high school. Such a move will
place added responsibilities on those who are recommended. We will discuss this after the December break.

Office Hours

All students have been told that I will meet with them to review material
at time of their choosing.  Students must make the appointment with me.

Each student knows that I am available before school or after school most
days. I am also available for mini, hallway meetings as well.

Some audiences will be at my insistence. You will hear about those.

Current concepts

Parents will achieve a definite understanding of our Pre Algebra study and direction
through an examination of this website. Links to class notes, warm-ups, quizzes and test
will give you not only an indication of the direction but the pace of our program of study as well.
The   Week at a Glance    section of the homework/assignments page will keep you up on current
                                     class work as well.

I will be including some links to class notes. Each student should have copies of these
notes in the  'Notes section'  of their math binders as well.

What  parents can do to assist

During each class period, homework is check and discussed. Early in the year, some
students are reticent to raise their hands and ask questions. I am usually quite adept at finding
these students and answering their questions on the QT. I do encourage them to brave the
waters and  share their questions as other students often have the same question or comment.

If your find that your son or daughter continues to be frustrated by some material over several
nights worth of  homework and study, encourage them to come to me at any time. If you find they
haven't and I haven't picked up their frustrations through quizzes nd class work, please call or
                                    email me.

I need information from all sources.......quizzes, tests, class presentations, questions, homework,
                                    and parents.

I want all my students to do their own work. A few questions to parents now and them are OK. But,
if you find yourself at the desk, day in and day out, we have a problem. Call or email me.
