Course Overview:  This semester-long elective course will provide students with a basis for using computers in their educational and personal/professional careers.  Students will utilize a variety of Apple software programs in projects that will provide them with practical knowledge of the use of computers both inside and outside of the classroom.

Topics covered may include the following:

* Software applications (Appleworks, Netscape 
  Communicator, Internet Explorer, 
  iMovie, Geometer Sketch Book)

* General computer usage (hardware components, trouble
   shooting, graphic/image manipulation)
* Ethics and safety around computers (using the internet,
   plagiarism, citing sources, appropriate use)
* Collaboration (helping other students, sharing resources)
* Individual responsibility (maintaining individual grade
   records, organization skills, problem-solving)

Grading Policy:  Utilizing a rubric for each project, grades are based upon the points earned on each assignment.  In addition to a student's ability to satisfy each project's requirements, individual effort and attitude during each project are also essential components of the grade.
 
 

Student Conduct Expectations:
* Be courteous to the teacher and to the other students.
* Refrain from using profane language.
* Be attentive at all times while in class.
* Be an active, contributing member of the class.
* Leave all food and drink items outside the class.
* Appropriately use Blach computers (whether in the 
  lab or any other Blach location).

* Respect school property and the property of others.

Students may leave the class for emergency purposes only.  Please ask permission and be sure to take the pass.
