The
8th Grade Band meets 6th and 7th periods. These two groups will
perform as one.
We will also have auditions during the first month, more information on
this later. If you are thinking of trying another instrument,
please
talk to Mrs. McNulty the first week of school.
We use the books Technic Today Book 3 by Belwin and Symphonic Band Technique by Southern Music. We will also soon begin testing our 12 major scales by memory and extending our knowledge of theory. There will be a few rehearsals on Wednesdays before school and possibly one or two after school or in the evening, before the performances. Second Semester This group has a performance with Graham, Crittenden, and Mountain View High School in the new theater at MVHS in February. They also have a performance in March at Blach. We are challenged to learn enough music to put on two different performances in such short a time. After this performance, several students will be participating in the Solo and Ensemble event in March. We will go into competition on Friday, April 27th after school, at Gunn High School for the California Music Educators Association Festival. This is like "Star" testing for music, and is a very important event for us. This adjudication includes sight-reading competition. We will perform another adjudication during the Disneyland trip. Our last performance of the year is at Smithwick Theater at Foothill College. For more detailed calendar, please check with the calendar page. -Mrs. McNulty
