Track and Field

Boys soccer and girls basketball seasons are coming to a close with many of the teams looking forward to playoffs the week before our April break.  This week is also the week we should be starting track but with the likelihood of both soccer teams needing the field for playoff games Monday and Tuesday it appears we will not start track practice until Weds. April 9th for those not involved with possible championship matches on Thursday, April 10th.  This may be our only practice before break.  After break we will have practices Mon, Tues, and Weds. to prepare for our first meet at Graham on Thursday, April 24th.  We expect a large turn out for track and field.  All students are welcome to participate in each of our five regular season meets with the possibility of qualifying for our league finals at Graham and championship finals at St. Francis later in May.  A copy of the track schedule can be obtained on the sports page on Blach’s website.

Blach’s Tennis Team News

Blach’s tennis team is about to begin.  Tryouts will take place on March 10-13.  Students sign up for one day of tryouts.  As long as the weather does not prolong tryouts the tennis team will be posted Friday morning, March 14.  Click on the link below for more information on Blach’s tennis team.

Congratulations to the 7th grade boys basketball team who made it all the way to the league championship game despite being a team ravaged by the flu that has hit Blach’s student body this winter.  They were down to only seven players by the championships.

7th Grade Boys Soccer tryouts are set for Weds (2/6) and Thurs. (2/7) from 3:00 to 4:30.  If any boys are involved with a basketball finals game due to the previous season or out of school due to the recent outbreak of flu they will be allowed to try out the following Monday (2/11) and Tuesday if needed.

The 8th grade boys soccer and all girls basketball teams will have tryouts on Monday (2/11) and Tuesday (2/12) from 3:00 to 4:30.

Stay tuned for news on tennis tryouts that will happen during mid-March.

A huge thanks to Renee HInson, Karen Zucker, and Mary Magee for being our boys basketball team parents who organized rides to Egan, Graham and playoff games.

Boys basketball and girls soccer tryouts will be held Wednesday, December 5 and Thursday December 6* after school from 3:00-4:30.

The boys volleyball teams all had very successful seasons attested by their teams records as well as improvement in play during the short but highly competitive seasons.  All three teams finished the regular season in second place (7th and 8th tied for 2nd) winning 1st round matches but then losing very close matches in the semi-finals.

Thanks to Nancy Nevalsky, Stacy Baier,  Nic Nunn, Cindy Gamble and Sherri Weeks for volunteering as our our team parents for the girls softball and boys volleyball seasons!

Girls volleyball tryouts are set for Monday, October 15 and Tuesday, October 16 from 3:00-4:30.  Wrestling will also begin on October 15.

Photos Needed:  Blach does a slideshow presentation during the two sports awards assemblies each year and hope to have at least one picture for each participant.  Our department takes many pictures but would like any parent who may have good action pics to send a copy to Steve Kane via e-mail or disc.
