Blach’s boys soccer teams will have tryouts Monday, February 13 and Tuesday, February 14.  David Harris will coach the 8th grade team.  As of this time there is still no coach assigned for the 7th grade team.  Please contact Steve Kane if you or you know of someone who is interested.  This is a paid position through Los Altos Rec. Dept.

Girls basketball tryouts may still start Weds., February 8 but is still dependent on how the two girls soccer teams finish up as well as availability of Blach’s city gym (may be needed for boys finals).

Added January 5
Blach’s fourth after school sports season beings in early February.  This will be for the girls basketball and boys soccer teams.  Earliest start date for tryouts will be Weds., Feb. 8.  Coaches are set for girls basketball and 8th grade boys soccer but we are in need still of a 7th grade boys soccer coach.  Please contact Steve Kane if you or you know of someone is interested.

Open gym for boys basketball team members this week Tues, Weds, and Thurs (12/20-22) from 10:00 - 12:00.  No open gym next week. Basketball team practice for those not on trips Monday, Jan 2nd and Tuesday, Jan 3rd from 3:00 - 4:30.

Our third season will begin next week.  Boys basketball will have tryouts on Monday (12/5) and Tuesday (12/6) from 3:00 to 4:30 on both days.  Girls soccer will have tryouts on Tuesday (12/6) and Wednesday (12/7) from 3:00 to 4:30 as well.  Coaches for the next season are:
Boys Basketball - 7th grade - Michael Serrano, “C” team - Jay Heeb, 8th grade - Ricky Appler
Girls Soccer - 7th grade - Pat Koren, 8th grade - Shelly Seiber

We are at the half way mark with point with our second season that has the boys wrestling and girls playing volleyball.  We will have another four matches before the Thanksgiving break and then one more on the Monday we return.  Playoffs and league finals for wrestling will take place that same week we get back after the break.  Boys basketball and girls soccer tryouts are tentatively scheduled for Monday (12/5) and Tuesday (12/6).  These sports are sure to have many students trying out so be sure and keep those dates open for both tryout days.

Our first season of sports is coming to a close with this weeks playoffs for girls softball, boys volleyball and league finals for cross country.  Our playoff format will be for the 3-6 place teams to play on Tuesday (10/4), the two winners of the first round will again play on Thursday (10/6) against the 1-2 place teams and then the finals will be on next Monday (10/10).  
Our second season is slated to begin on Monday (10/10) as well but may be postponed until Tuesday if teams from boys volleyball or girls softball make it to the finals.  This announcement will be made Friday during the school day to all students as well as posted on this website.  Wrestling will have no cuts but participants will wrestle off for the top spots on the team.  Girls volleyball will have to make cuts so please be sure your daughter is able to make both tryout days (either Mon & Tues or Tues & Weds).

A huge thank you to Rachel Botsford and Joanne Marent for volunteering to act as this years sports booster chairpersons.  If your son or daughter competes on a team Rachel and Joanne will be asking for volunteers to help carpool to and from schools that we do not bus to as well as looking for help for home track meets.  Please help whenever possible. 

Sign ups for cross country, girls softball and boys volleyball are currently in the boys and girls locker rooms.  Cross country practice will start next Monday (8/29) after school.  All participants will meet in front of Mrs. Honigman’s classroom for instruction and an opening run.  Plan on practices being over by 4:00.  Practices will continue on Weds and Thurs. next week.  

Girls softball and boys volleyball tryouts will take pace Monday (8/29) and Tuesday (8/30) after school from 3:00 - 4:30.  Teams will be posted Weds. morning in the locker rooms.  Practices will begin that afternoon and continue on Thursday.

Coaches Needed
Not all of our coaching positions are filled during this year.  If you know of anyone that has experience and would be a good candidate to lead a junior high team please contact Pat Koren or Steve Kane.  These are paid positions through Los Altos Recreation and would require background checks and current TB testing (both paid for by the Rec. Dept).

Currently we are in need of the following:
Girls Volleyball (1-2 coaches)
Boys Soccer (2 coaches)
Boys Basketball (1 coach)
Girls Soccer (1 coach)

Girls softball and boys volleyball tryouts will start the week of August 29.  Check back shortly for more info.

Cross country can start practices also the week of August 29 (all are welcome/no tryouts).  More info to follow as well.

Los Altos Rec. Dept. has made the registration process online (3rd year doing this).  All athletes who participate on all Blach after school sports teams (with the exception of flag football and tennis) will receive instructions at the beginning of the season (after teams are selected) on how to register online.  For more information click on the following link: Online Registration for After School Sports


Blach will again be charging a separate fee ($25) for bussing to all schools other than Egan, Graham and schools traveled to during playoffs.
