Blach Intermediate School Welcomes You!

Dear Parents of Blach class of 2021,

We are so excited to welcome you and your student to Blach in the Fall! Blach Intermediate is a school where every student feels connected and capable. We, at Blach, take great pride in creating a nurturing learning environment that empowers student voice and choice. We, at Blach, believe that a strong home-school partnership is crucial to a positive Junior High experience. Our teachers bring the vision of personalized learning to life each day in their classrooms. With a rich offering of electives, after school sports and student initiated and teacher sponsored clubs and activities, we provide our students with a myriad of avenues to explore their passions and interests.

We have planned several opportunities for you and your student to learn more about Blach and our programs, how to support your 6th grader through this transition and visit our campus to get a feel of it.

  • Parent Information Evening: February 27, 7-8:15 P.M. (Blach Multi) : Learn about all things Blach, hear from teachers, parents and students! Parents only please! No RSVP needed.

  • Campus Tours: Student led tours for parents only will be offered at the following dates and times. Tours begin in the library. Please choose 1 tour date. Additional tours will also be offered on Welcome back to school/schedule day before school starts in August. Please RSVP here by March 1st.

    • March 15: 9:30-11 A.M.

    • March 18: 1:30-3 P.M.

  • Elementary PTA Outreach: Principal Narula will also be available at Loyola, Springer and Oak PTA meetings/Principals’ coffees in March/early April: These are additional informal opportunities to learn about the wonderful and amazing world of Blach and ask questions. More information to follow from your child’s elementary school.  

  • Elective Faire: April 3 : 6:30-7:45 P.M.:  For both Parents and Students: Come learn more about our rich elective offerings , meet elective teachers and visit elective classrooms!

  • Elementary School Visits: Students only: Principal Narula will be visiting 6th graders in spring to talk about transition to Blach, things to look forward to, programs and electives and answer student questions. Here is the schedule:

    • April 10: Oak, Loyola and Springer Elementary Schools

Students will be signing up for electives online in 6th grade classes between April 17- May 1. Your student will bring home an elective sign up form.  Elective form needs to signed by a parent before students can make online selections. Updated 2019-20 Electives Catalog will be available in March on our website and will also be sent home via email. For non-LASD students, please bring a hard copy of the form to Blach front office (non-LASD students do not sign up online).

  • Walk to Blach: April 26, 9:30-11AM: Students only: 6th grade students along with their teachers visit Blach:  6th graders (starting at Blach in Fall 2019) visit Blach for an orientation and campus tour. This fun-filled event includes team building activities and tours led by our current students. Freddy, the resident Blach Falcon, has been known to visit the 6th graders at this event!
