Academic Eligibility:

Blach student athletes must be committed first to maintaining the academic demands placed on them while at Blach in order to participate on a after school sports teams. If at any time during the tryout process or while participating on a team, a student shows signs of struggling academically he or she may be suspended from competition and practice until his or her coach and teacher(s) see progress and improvement.

School Attendance:

A student athlete must attend at least a half-day of classes (3 full class periods) to be eligible for tryouts on a specific day, practices and or games. If a student does not attend at least half-day of classes, he or she will be not be allowed to participate in a tryout, practice or game on that specific day.

Physical Education:

A student athlete that has been excused from his or her Physical Education class will also be prohibited from participating in a tryout, practice or game on the respective day(s).

Playing Time:

It is Blach’s policy to hire coaches to encourage as much playing time for each student as possible while still being competitive with the other nine schools in the league. The Valley Athletic League is a highly competitive league and there are no league rules on required playing time. Many schools we compete with will often only play a portion of their athletes during games. Our coaches at Blach are instructed to play all players during regular season play but during playoff the emphasis will shift more to the competitive side and may reduce the amount of time each athlete participates.
