Hello Falcon Families,

I hope that you and your family are doing well and having a rewarding, restful summer. We are very excited to welcome all of our Blach Falcons back for the 2026-27 school year. I am so exuberant about this upcoming year and have so much to share with you but I understand that this first communication should contain just the most pertinent information. So, more to come. In the meantime, please take some time to review the important information below. And, as always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.  

The fact that you are receiving this email is an indication your student is registered. However, there is one critical step we need you to take. Last week, in your inbox, you received an email from “noreplyenrollment@powerschool.com” This IS NOT junk email! Please click on this link and fill out the required information which includes updates on emergency contacts.  

If you have already done this, THANK YOU! However, as of yesterday, only 187 forms were completed- which means many of our fabulous Blach families haven’t completed this important step.   

This is the first opportunity for students to pick up their schedules for the fall. Our Leadership students will be on hand to give tours of the campus as well. One important update to share with you is that we will no longer be selling PE uniforms at this event. Instead, we will be giving our students their PE uniforms through their PE classes.

Incoming 7th graders attend Schedule Day on Friday August 7th from 9am to 10am. 

8th graders come to Schedule Day from 10am to 11am. 

Yes, families are welcome to attend this event. And, if your student or you cannot make it, schedules will be available in the office all the way up to the first day of school on Wednesday, August 12th.

Please remember that Wednesdays are late start days, with 1st period beginning at 9:17am.  

You’re invited to join families from schools across the district to celebrate the kick-off of a new school year on Saturday, August 15th, 5:30-7:00 pm at Almond Elementary. 

Reunite with friends from Blach and connect with families from all LASD schools. Purchase food from food trucks and Kona Ice or bring a picnic dinner. Kids can enjoy the playground and join field games. 

Let’s bring some Falcon spirit! I hope to see you there.

This is a parent/guardian event only. More information about this event will be shared later.

Friday, September 4th- Minimum Day Dismissal 

All students are dismissed at 12:30pm. Our website has a list of other minimum days throughout the school year.

Sponsored by the amazing Blach PTA, this event gets our entire community together to kick off the school year with a delicious breakfast. More info to come.

Please join us at 8:45am for Blach’s first PTA meeting of the year.

We’ll kick things off with our Back To School Night on August 26th. Thanks to our PTA for making this event possible—we hope to see you there! Be sure to subscribe to the Blach calendar to stay up to date on important dates and events. If you haven’t already, please complete your Annual Student Form in PowerSchool as soon as possible.

At Blach, we are committed to providing every student with an exceptional learning experience, a commitment that requires support beyond public funding. LAEF and our PTAs have long shared the work of raising those funds. This year, fundraising responsibility for instructional programs and materials is shifting from PTAs to LAEF.

As you consider your school donations this year, we encourage families to prioritize giving to LAEF to support instructional programs and materials, such as arts curriculum and technology devices. Then please join the Blach PTA and volunteer! Creating an exceptional school experience takes all of us.
