  • What's the purpose of our school libraries?

School libraries have great books, just like public libraries, but school libraries also teach information literacy skills and library skills that are part of the curriculum in California.

What types of resources are available from LASD libraries?

Our libraries provide multiple resources for students in grades preschool through 8 with the goal of providing every student with options for becoming strong information users and lifelong readers. We offer print books and magazines, both fiction and nonfiction, for reading for pleasure and to support schoolwork and personal information interests. We also offer high quality electronic information resources for student research and reading development that are available both at school and home. Our goal is to offer choices to students in order to meet each student's research and reading needs.

  • A man with a shaved head and goatee smiles at the camera.Eugene Leung is excited to join Blach as a Library Specialist!  He is a former IT professional for the U.S. Department of Treasury, the Export-Import Bank, and several private companies in the Washington, DC area. After 22 years in our nation’s capital, he and his family relocated to Los Altos in 2018. Eugene is a lifelong lover of libraries, learning about library acquisitions at an early age after reading every dinosaur book at his local library and suggesting new titles to the librarian. He worked at Princeton University’s Firestone library during school breaks alongside his librarian mom. In his free time, Eugene enjoys running marathons, cooking, choral singing, and of course, reading. He currently sings with the Stanford Symphonic Chorus. He lives in Los Altos with his wife and daughter, a proud LASD alumna. Eugene is thrilled to be a part of the Blach School and the LASD community.
